Are you going to be married soon? If you’re in the process of planning a wedding, you’ll want to think about the photographer that you hire. Naturally, you’ll want to make sure that the person that you hire is qualified to capture such a special day. We recently got married and choose Ian Waller Photography (after talking to about ten different photographers!) to do our shoot, with results we were delighted about. So you could say we know a thing or two about wedding photographers.
What should you be looking for? Here are a few things you should try to keep in mind.
Is The Photographer Experienced?
You don’t want to take a shot on a novice when it comes to an event as important as your wedding day. If someone is new to wedding photographer, they may be willing to offer you a discount. However, it is unlikely that their photos will offer what you are looking for.
Capturing a wedding is a lot harder than most people think. A photographer has to take a wide range of pictures during a wedding, and they need to deal with all kinds of different variables. If someone is still learning the ropes, they could wind up making a very big mistake. You’ll only have one chance to capture this day. You need a photographer that is more than capable of getting the job done.
Look At Their Past Work
Obviously, you won’t be able to see the photos the photographer will take of your wedding until after the big event. However, you will be able to look at some of the pictures that they have taken for other people.
You should spend a lot of time looking at their portfolio. See if you like the style that they shoot in. If you’re impressed with the photos in the portfolio, that’s a good sign.
You should also pay attention to the level of variety in that portfolio. If their portfolio showcases all kinds of different photos, you can probably trust that the photographer can capture great pictures under any circumstances.
Find Someone You Can Get Along With
Your photographer will be taking pictures of you, but they will also be a part of your wedding day. You should make sure that the two of you can get along with each other. Make sure that the two of you are on the same page.
If a photographer is hard to get along with, you may not want them to be present at your wedding. After all, this is a very special day. You’re not going to want to deal with someone that will put you in a bad mood. You’ll want someone that will make your wedding even better!
Find Someone That Can Work With Your Budget
Weddings can be incredibly expensive. There are so many different things that you are going to have to pay for. If you want to make sure that you don’t go over your budget, you should be very careful about what you spend.
Before you start seriously looking at a photographer, find out what they charge. Make sure that their prices won’t catch you off guard. You should be comfortable with what you are paying.
With that said, a photographer may not be something that you want to skimp on. You’ll only wear your wedding dress once, and you’ll only have one chance to eat your wedding dinner. However, you’ll be able to enjoy your wedding photos for many years to come.
Trust Your Instincts
If you feel like you should hire a particular photographer, then that is what you should do. It’s important to trust your instincts when it comes to things like this. If you have a gut feeling about someone, it’s probably for a reason.
Think carefully about what your instincts are telling you to do. If you listen to your gut instincts, you’ll be able to find a photographer that you are completely comfortable with. You won’t have to second guess the choice that you have made.
There are a number of things you should look for in a wedding photographer. If you take your time and make a point of choosing the perfect photographer, you’ll get the kind of pictures that you can be proud of. No matter who you wind up working with, you’ll be satisfied with your decision.
